There are two kinds of Chromecast, and they take an IPTV login in two different ways. A classic Chromecast (the round puck without a remote) has no apps of its own: a phone or tablet casts the picture to it. A Chromecast with Google TV, and the Google TV Streamer that replaced it, run Google TV with the Play Store, so you install the player on the device itself and use the remote. This page explains both and ends with what stops a stream from cutting out.

Both paths use the same credentials: the server address, username and password sent on WhatsApp or in the welcome email. There is no APK to download from a forum, and this site does not link to one. Not sure which device you own? If it came with a remote, it is the Google TV kind.

Classic Chromecast: cast from the phone

A classic Chromecast shows what a phone, tablet or Chrome browser sends to it. You open an IPTV player on the phone, log in with the Xtream fields, start a channel, and tap the Cast icon. The phone becomes the remote; the Chromecast fetches the stream from the server directly. If the player has no Cast icon, the fallback is screen mirroring, which sends the phone's screen instead and costs quality and battery.

Three things follow. The phone must stay on the same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast for the whole evening. A phone that locks, leaves the house, or kills the app in the background ends the session. And every channel change goes through the phone, so a second person cannot pick up a remote. For a living-room television that is used every night, this is the weaker setup, and it is why the Google TV models exist.

Casting is one stream. A plan with one screen allows one cast session; the plan rules are in the screens guide. The phone-side player choice is in the Android player guide.

Chromecast with Google TV and the Google TV Streamer: install the app

A Chromecast with Google TV (HD or 4K) and the Google TV Streamer run Google TV: a home screen, a remote, and the Play Store on the device. You install the player on the device, type the Xtream login once, and the television works without a phone. Google ended the Chromecast line in 2024 and sells the Google TV Streamer in its place, with an Ethernet port and more storage; the older sticks keep working the same way.

The install is the same as on any Google TV set: Play Store, search for IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or XCIPTV, install, open, and enter the server, username and password from your welcome message. The full walkthrough is in how to install IPTV on Android TV and Google TV and the shorter Android install page. TiviMate's Premium price is set by its developer inside the app; WorldIPTV does not sell it.

Do not sideload a player from a link someone sent you. Everything above installs from the Play Store on the device.

How to avoid dropouts

Most cut-outs on a Chromecast are Wi-Fi, not the provider. Put the device on the 5 GHz band or on a cable, and keep the stream's bitrate below the real speed measured at the device. HD needs about 10 Mbps per screen and 4K about 25 Mbps, measured at the stick, not at the router. If every device in your home fails while ordinary websites load, that is a support case: write on WhatsApp with your internet provider's name, and do not look for a workaround.

  • Use a cable when you can. The Google TV Streamer has an Ethernet port. A Chromecast with Google TV takes Google's Ethernet power adapter. A cable removes the Wi-Fi variable entirely.
  • Move off 2.4 GHz. The HDMI port is usually behind the television, which is the worst place for Wi-Fi. Choose the 5 GHz network name on the device, or use a longer HDMI cable so the stick sits in the open.
  • Keep storage free. A Chromecast with Google TV has little storage. Uninstall the apps you do not use and keep the player as the one that runs; a device that is full stutters before it buffers.
  • One player, then another. If a channel stutters in one player, try the same login in a second player before you blame the line. The comparison of behaviours is in the Fire TV Stick player comparison; the settings are in the same places on Google TV.
  • Casting: keep the phone awake and on the Wi-Fi. On a classic Chromecast, the phone's battery saver and its Wi-Fi sleep setting end the stream. Plug the phone in for a match.
  • Check the guide offset, not the stream. A guide that is hours off in Canada or the US is a time-zone setting. The stream is fine; set the EPG offset for your city.

The ordered diagnosis for any device, from the room to the line, is in why IPTV stopped working. The words used on this page (EPG, Xtream, buffering) are defined in the IPTV glossary.

Which one to buy for IPTV

If you are choosing today for a television that will be used every evening in Canada or the United States, buy the Google TV kind (Google TV Streamer, or a Chromecast with Google TV while stock lasts) and install the player on the device. Keep the classic Chromecast for a second room or for travel, where a phone as the remote is acceptable. Neither device needs a public playlist or a modified app.

Test before you pay: the 24-hour trial runs on either device, on your Wi-Fi, in the evening. Ask for it on WhatsApp and name the device; the reply tells you which player to install first.

FAQ

Can I use IPTV on a classic Chromecast without a Google TV?
Yes, by casting from a phone or tablet. Open the IPTV player on the phone, log in, play a channel and tap the Cast icon. The phone must stay on the same Wi-Fi and awake. There is no app on the Chromecast itself.
Does the Google TV Streamer have IPTV apps?
It runs Google TV with the Play Store, so you install IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or XCIPTV on the device and enter the Xtream login once. No phone is needed afterwards.
Why does my Chromecast stream cut out?
Usually the Wi-Fi band or the position of the stick behind the television. Use 5 GHz or a cable, keep the bitrate under the real speed at the device, and free storage on a Chromecast with Google TV. If every device in the house fails together while websites load, write to support with the provider's name.
Does casting count as a second screen?
A cast session is one stream. A second television playing at the same time is a second screen, whichever device shows it. The plan sets the number of simultaneous screens.
Do I need an APK or a Downloader code?
No. Both Google TV devices install the player from the Play Store. This site does not publish APK files, Downloader codes, or playlists.
