Monday 5 October 2026 is a home night. The next wide horror opening, Other Mommy, is Friday. Tonight’s plan uses films Netflix and Hulu have already dated, two streaming premieres Variety placed on 2 October, and a short list if the room can wait until midweek.
The dates come from pages read for this article: Netflix Tudum, “New on Netflix in October 2026” (Ashley Lee, 30 September 2026); Disney+’s October 2026 new-releases page; Amazon’s Prime Video October note; Variety’s 2 October 2026 streaming roundup by Zack Sharf; and Rotten Tomatoes title pages for two films in theaters. Those calendars are US lists. Another country can lag, so open the app before you promise the room a title.
What can you start on the sofa tonight?
Netflix Tudum places two films on 5 October 2026.
Lorne lands today. Tudum describes interviews and archival footage on how Lorne Michaels built Saturday Night Live.
The Boogeyman is the horror on the same date: a grieving family stalked by a creature that feeds on that grief. Tudum lists the film for 5 October and does not call it a 2026 production.
Two earlier Netflix rows cover a different mood. Doing Life (2 October) is Tudum’s story of a single mother and an incarcerated man writing to each other. Variety’s 2 October piece calls it Tyler Perry’s latest Netflix original. If the title card and the article disagree, believe the app. East of Eden (1 October) is, in Tudum’s introduction, Zoe Kazan’s adaptation of the Steinbeck novel with Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, and Mike Faist.
Hulu, via Disney+’s October page, already has a stack if you pay for it: Barbarian (1 October; a Detroit rental is double-booked), The Substance (2 October calendar; named with the Halloween titles), Hereditary (3 October), and Midsommar (3 October).
Variety’s 2 October list adds two premieres to confirm in the app, because this article did not open a Max or Mubi schedule. Evil Dead Burn is on HBO Max: Sébastien Vaniček directs, and Souheila Yacoub plays a woman whose stay with her in-laws turns into Deadites. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is on Mubi: Jane Schoenbrun directs, Hannah Einbinder plays a filmmaker rebooting a horror franchise, and Gillian Anderson plays the original star.
What is worth holding until Friday?
Wednesday is a series, on Prime Video. About Amazon dates Carrie for 7 October 2026: the first television adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, from Mike Flanagan, with Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as her mother. The same note lists US Prime at $14.99 a month or $139 a year. Your checkout can differ.
Friday 9 October is the theater choice. Rotten Tomatoes lists Other Mommy as a wide US opening that day: Rob Savage directs, Jessica Chastain stars, Universal Pictures distributes, and Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster are on the page. An eight-year-old meets an entity that looks and sounds like her mother (1 hour 33 minutes, R). That page gave no home date. If you would rather go out before Friday, Digger has been wide since 2 October: Warner Bros. Pictures, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Tom Cruise, 2 hours 9 minutes, R. Its synopsis there: a powerful man tries to prove he is humanity’s savior before a disaster he unleashed destroys everything.
Friday at home, with a first-party date, is Animals on Netflix. Tudum’s 9 October line: a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife learn their son has been kidnapped and must raise a ransom while secrets split them. The introduction says Ben Affleck directs, co-writes, and stars, with Kerry Washington as his wife.
Variety dates three more titles for 9 October. We did not open a Peacock, Shudder, or Max calendar, so check the app that morning. Disclosure Day is on Peacock (Steven Spielberg; Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt). V/H/S Mixtape, the ninth anthology, is on Shudder. The Housemaid (Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried) is on HBO Max. Disney+’s own page then has Hokum on Hulu for 10 October (Adam Scott, a remote Irish inn) and Clown Panic, a Hulu premiere on 12 October, a documentary on the 2016 clown sightings. Variety also dates the Oasis film Don’t Look Back in Anger for 9 October on Disney+ and Hulu. That calendar does not list it, so it stays off this plan.
How do you open the right app on a TV?
Write the title and the service down first. Lorne is Netflix. Barbarian is Hulu. Carrie is Prime Video. Evil Dead Burn, if Max shows it, is Max.
On a Fire TV Stick, install that service’s app from the Amazon Appstore and sign in to the account that pays for it. A stick does not move Other Mommy or Digger out of theaters. On a Samsung or LG set, search the same service in the brand’s store. Older sets sometimes hide an app. A separate live-channel player is a different login: Firestick install, Firestick apps for 2026, the Samsung and LG guide, and the smart TV install page.
If the app says the title is unavailable, stop and pick the next title above. A US list date, a plan tier, and the country on the login can all differ. October Disney+ and Hulu list prices are on the October 2026 price note. How cable, a streaming app, and IPTV differ as products is on the streaming comparison.
When the question is one more living-room login
Those films belong to the services that dated them. A household that also wants live channels on the same television, beside those apps, can read WorldIPTV on pricing: $12 for 1 month, $25 for 3 months, $35 for 6 months, and $65 for 12 months in USD, with two connections at +40% and three at +75%. Screen count is on compare. A 24-hour picture check, with no card, is on free trial. That plan sits beside Netflix, Max, Peacock, Hulu, or a cinema ticket. Lorne, Animals, Other Mommy, and Digger are not placed in it here. Subscribers follow the law where they watch.
