A foreign-language film is easy to start in the wrong version: a dub you did not ask for, or a subtitle line that never appears. IPTV subtitles and audio tracks are the two lists that fix that. Audio is the spoken track, original or dubbed. Subtitles are the written line. Both come from the source stream. Firestick, Android and Google TV, Smart TV apps and Apple TV can show those lists and switch them once the film is playing.

What the stream includes

A published film may carry one video, one or more audio tracks, and zero or more subtitle tracks. The app builds its menu after playback starts. One audio line is the only language you can hear. A longer list moves between the original and a dub. Names are language codes, or words such as Original and Dubbed.

Subtitles follow the same rule. An empty list means this copy has no switchable text. Words painted on the picture, with nothing to select, are burned into the video. A library title and a live movie channel can share a name and still differ. The menu on the copy you pressed is the one that counts.

Original audio, a dub, or both

Original audio is the track marked as the film's own language. French-language catalogues often say VO, for version originale. German-language labels use OV, and OmU for the original with subtitles. VOST, and VOSTFR, means original audio with subtitles. English-language lists often write the language name, or the word dubbed.

A dub replaces the voices and leaves the picture, so the mouth may not match. A voice that starts late is a separate fault, covered below. When both lists exist you can pair original audio with subtitles in your language, or play a dub with subtitles off. If a language is missing, that pair is unavailable on this copy. Open the film and read the menu before you settle in.

Firestick

Most living rooms use IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate. Install steps are in the Firestick app guide and on the Firestick install page. Switching starts after picture and sound.

Press the centre Select button. In TiviMate, Down also opens the player bar. Open Audio, sometimes a speaker icon, and choose the original or the dub. Open Subtitles, sometimes CC, and choose a language or Off. A menu opened on the loading spinner is often empty until dialogue starts.

Fire OS captions, under Settings then Accessibility, change how system captions look. They do not add a track inside these apps. If every film opens in the wrong language, set TiviMate's preferred audio and subtitle languages under Settings, then Playback, when those fields are shown, and start the film from the beginning. Smarters usually keeps the last track you picked.

Android and Google TV

Phones, tablets, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield and other Android TV boxes use TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and XCIPTV. Setup is the Android player guide and the Android install page. Press the centre button, or tap the phone, then open Audio and Subtitles.

The Google TV control under Settings, System, Accessibility, Captions changes how system captions look. It does not add a language the film never carried. On a phone, a live-caption overlay is separate from the film file. XCIPTV keeps Audio and Subtitles in its on-screen menu.

Samsung, LG and other Smart TV apps

Samsung sets run Tizen and LG sets run webOS. Smart IPTV, IBO Player and IPTV Smarters, where the store still lists it, are in the Samsung and LG guide and on the Smart TV install page. TiviMate does not run on those two systems.

Press OK while the film plays. Audio and Subtitle show in that menu when the stream has them. These apps list embedded tracks, so a file on a USB stick stays outside the menu. Hisense sets on VIDAA use the same in-app menu. Sony, Philips and TCL sets on Android TV or Google TV follow the Android steps above.

Apple TV

IPTV Smarters, iPlayTV and GSE Smart IPTV come from the tvOS App Store. Login is in the Apple TV setup guide and on the iOS install page. Swipe down on the Siri Remote during the film. The info panel lists audio, subtitles and quality.

GSE is the most flexible of the three when several spoken languages are present. iPlayTV and Smarters show the tracks that were included. Accessibility, then Subtitles and Captioning, changes how system captions look. An empty panel means this film has no switchable subtitles.

When the language goes wrong

Missing subtitles

The control is absent, or the only choice is Off. This copy has no switchable subtitle track. Open another entry and read the title for a language code, VO, OV, OmU, VOST or the word dubbed, then confirm it on the player bar. Words the menu cannot hide are part of the picture.

Sound or subtitles out of sync

Switch audio and switch back, or toggle subtitles, then start from the beginning. A resume point can reopen a drift that was already there. If the app has a delay control, move it one small step. VLC on a computer has a track-sync control. Many living-room apps do not, so the offset is in that stream: try another copy, or the same login in a second app you already use.

The wrong language every time

The player remembered the last track, or a preference grabbed any track matching the device language. Set preferred audio and subtitle languages where the app offers them. In TiviMate that is Settings, then Playback, followed by a fresh start. With no preference field, choose the track on the bar each time. The television menu language is separate. A French menu can still play an English dub.

Switch the track during the film

  1. Start the film and wait for picture and sound. A track list opened on the loading spinner is often empty. Wait until the picture is moving and you can hear dialogue.
  2. Open the player bar. On Firestick, Android and Google TV, press the centre button or Down. On a Samsung or LG app, press OK. On Apple TV, swipe down on the Siri Remote.
  3. Choose the audio track. Select the original language or the dub you want. One entry means that stream includes only that track.
  4. Choose subtitles or turn them off. Pick a language, or Off. An empty list means this copy has no switchable subtitles. Words burned into the picture stay on screen.
  5. Save a preferred language if the app has one, then start the film again. Where Settings includes Playback preferences, set the audio language and the subtitle language, stop the film, and play it from the start.

What the plan includes

Language choice sits in the same subscription as the rest of the service. In the published USD list, one screen is $12 for 1 month, $25 for 3 months, $35 for 6 months and $65 for 12 months. Other currencies, and two or three screens, are on the pricing page. Compare lines up screen count with the rooms in the house. Watch one film in the language you wanted before a longer term.

Subscribers are responsible for complying with local laws.

If the player bar still shows a single language and you want a second look at the app, message WorldIPTV on WhatsApp at +44 7307 410512.

FAQ

Why is the subtitle list empty on one film and full on another?
Each title carries only the tracks in its source stream. Open the player bar on the film you are watching, after picture and sound have started.
Can I keep the original audio and read subtitles in my language?
Yes, when both are in the stream. Choose the original audio, then your subtitle language. If either list lacks that language, this copy cannot play that pair.
The dub is out of sync. What should I change first?
Select another audio track, then start from the beginning. Use a delay control only if the app has one. A cinema or dialogue sound mode on the television does not realign a late voice.
Every film starts in English. Where is the default?
In the player. TiviMate stores preferred audio and subtitle languages under Settings, then Playback. Other apps often remember only the last track on the bar.
Do Samsung and LG apps load a subtitle file from a USB stick?
Smart IPTV, IBO Player and the other store apps here list tracks embedded in the stream. An empty subtitle entry means this stream has no switchable subtitles.
Does a plan guarantee subtitles on every film?
Extra audio and subtitles depend on the source stream. The plan is access on your screens at the prices on the pricing page. Read the track list before you commit the evening.
