A weeknight of European football often fails in the living room before it fails in the app. Finish the connection, the update, the restart, the picture, the city time and a spare device in the afternoon. This list follows UEFA’s 2026/27 kick-off slots for Champions League, Europa League and Nations League evenings. It names no fixture and lists no channels.

Which clocks does UEFA print?

These slots are from the 2026/27 regulations on documents.uefa.com. Each article lets UEFA make exceptions.

Champions League Article 25: play-offs and the league phase are in principle 21:00 CET, except two Tuesday matches, two Wednesday matches and, on matchday one, two Thursday matches at 18:45 CET. The last league-phase matchday is simultaneous, Wednesday at 21:00 CET. Knockout play-offs and the round of 16 are 18:45 or 21:00 CET. From the quarter-finals through the final, 21:00 CET.

Europa League Article 25: the league phase is 16:30, 18:45 or 21:00 CET. The last league-phase matchday is simultaneous, Thursday at 21:00 CET. Knockout play-offs, the round of 16 and the quarter-finals are 18:45 or 21:00 CET; semi-finals and the final are 21:00 CET. Article 23 puts the matches on Thursdays, except matchday one (Wednesday and Thursday) and the final (a Wednesday).

Nations League Article 22: Monday to Friday is 20:45 CET. Saturday and Sunday may also be 15:00 or 18:00 CET, and finals can differ. The league-phase page on uefa.com says all times are CET, 20:45 unless stated. A separate note covers two early-October ties: Nations League, 5–6 October 2026.

What to finish in the afternoon

Use the set you will watch. An 18:45 whistle leaves no room for a system download.

  1. Write the CET figure and your city’s clock.
  2. Update the device and the player while you can still wait, then restart. If a programme will not load, BBC iPlayer’s buffering help says to reboot the router and the device, then reconnect.
  3. Prefer a cable. On Wi-Fi, place the router first.
  4. Play something that is not the match. Picture should hold, and sound should match the mouth.
  5. Sign the spare phone or tablet into the same legitimate app.
  6. Stop. Downloads and checkout wait until full time.

Install steps already exist for a Fire TV Stick, a Smart TV and Samsung or LG.

Speeds you can cite, and the path to the set

Test where the television sits. A phone beside the router can look fine while the set does not. The only speeds here are published ones:

  • BBC iPlayer HD help: enough speed for 3.2 Mbps, or 5 Mbps for its best HD, and you can switch to standard definition. Its buffering help says other devices share the line, and that Wi-Fi users should try a cable or move closer to the router.
  • NOW UK sports help: 2.5 Mbps minimum for Sky Sports channels, then at least 12 Mbps for 1080p and 30 Mbps for UHD with Boost or Ultra Boost. Those channels then stream at 50 frames per second in Dolby Digital 5.1. One device at a time, unless Boost or Ultra Boost allows two or three.
  • Amazon Fire TV 4K help: at least 15 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD. Some apps, Netflix given as the example, recommend at least 20 Mbps. The Fire TV user guide treats Ethernet as optional.

Those figures are not a bitrate for every football app. If the set is short of the quality you wanted, drop it before walk-out. If it still breaks, use the buffering guide. Keep the router in the open on the 5 GHz name when two exist. If only the set stutters, move it or the router in the afternoon.

Picture, sound, then a restart you can trust

Update, restart, then judge the picture. On a connected TV, BBC iPlayer’s HD help uses Settings, then Video Quality, then High Definition or Standard Definition. Keep what the test held. That page says iPlayer audio is stereo only. Amazon’s 4K help says to set the television to 4K, HDR or FHD and Video Resolution to Auto. Check the HDMI port in daylight; many sets carry HDCP 2.2 only on the socket labelled 4K.

Use the sport preset if the maker offers one. The ball should stay readable, and speech should match the mouth. Choose the language track that stays in time with the soundbar.

From the printed CET to the wall clock

UEFA prints CET even in summer, when Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Rome are on summer time. Leave that number alone. Adding an hour to “correct” the letters misses the first quarter.

London, Lisbon and Dublin stay one hour behind Paris in both seasons, because they change clocks with the EU on the last Sunday of March and of October. A printed 21:00 is 20:00 there, 18:45 is 17:45, and a weekday Nations League 20:45 is 19:45. Finland and Greece stay an hour ahead of Paris.

Write your city next to the guide time zone. A guide left on UTC shifts the evening. Confirm it, then use IPTV football for the wider page. On a clock-change weekend, copy the broadcaster’s listing for that week.

The spare device, and the last ten minutes

Charge the phone or tablet you would actually use and sign it into the same legitimate app while the television is already playing. Read that app’s device cap, using NOW’s one-screen rule above as a reminder that caps differ, and pick the main screen early.

An update, a large download or a checkout in the last minutes turns a calm test into a spinning circle. Take other devices off the line before the anthem. A longer plan does not lift a router out of a cupboard.

Where the licensed app fits

Watch on the broadcaster that holds the match where you live. NOW’s UK sports help says a Sports Membership does not include the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League, which it places on TNT Sports. Other countries need the same check locally. Is IPTV legal? is background, not a clearance for one tie.

Beside that licensed app, WorldIPTV is one option when a household wants those nights on a single login. Check what the login contains. This page does not fill a gap with an unnamed channel.

Plan length and screen count are on compare and pricing.

FAQ

What time do Champions League matches usually start?
Article 25: 21:00 CET in principle, plus two 18:45 CET matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and, on matchday one, Thursday. Later ties are 18:45 or 21:00 CET until the quarter-finals, which are 21:00 CET with the semi-finals and the final.
Are Europa League evenings the same slots?
Article 25 adds 16:30 CET in the league phase, beside 18:45 and 21:00 CET. From the knockout play-offs through the quarter-finals, 18:45 or 21:00 CET.
What about a Nations League weeknight?
Article 22 sets Monday to Friday at 20:45 CET. Weekends can also be 15:00 or 18:00 CET.
When should the app be updated?
In the afternoon, before the restart. A download started just before 18:45 can still be running at the whistle.
Does a speed test beside the router count?
Only for that spot. Repeat it on the television and compare it with a published figure, such as iPlayer’s 5 Mbps for its best HD.
What if the picture buffers in the last ten minutes?
Drop quality, take other downloads off the line, then open the buffering guide.
Does this page list channels?
It lists UEFA kick-off rules and setup steps. Confirm the licensed window on the broadcaster’s site.
Who can help if the spare device will not sign in?
Message us on WhatsApp with the device and the city: +44 7307 410512.
