IPTV on Roku starts on the home screen of a Roku streaming player or a Roku TV. Public apps are added from the Streaming Store. When the player you want is listed for your country, add it there. When it is not, Roku's AirPlay and screen-mirroring pages describe how a compatible phone, tablet, or computer can put a picture on that TV.
What the Streaming Store is
Roku's developer documentation calls the Streaming Store the home for public apps, and says those apps are reviewed before they are listed. Each retail country has its own store, so a list from another country is a different catalogue. Roku also describes a "Roku Powered" store for pay-TV partners. Sky TV and Telstra are Roku's examples, and each partner controls what that store features. Search on the Roku you will watch.
Subscription login details come from the provider. This article does not publish playlist addresses. After you add an app, use the sign-in labels inside that app.
Step-by-step install from the Roku Streaming Store
Allow about 5 minutes once the player is on your Wi-Fi and you know which app you are opening. The sequence follows Roku Support's "How to add apps" article, updated 22 June 2026, and the Streaming Store page in Roku's developer docs.
- Open the store tile. Press Home. Roku Support says select Store, then Apps. The developer docs say open Streaming Store in the left-hand menu. Roku's help page for The Roku Channel also says Streaming Store, then Apps. Use the label on your home screen.
- Open the details page. Highlight the app and press OK. Roku's developer page says that screen shows a description, screenshots, the price, and the developer name.
- Add the app. Roku Support says select Add app when it is free, or OK when it sells a subscription. The developer page calls the button Add channel, and says a paid app may ask for the billing password. If you set a Roku account PIN, the support article says you enter it here.
- Confirm the home screen. The new app is placed at the bottom of the home-screen list. Adding it on one device adds it to every Roku on the same account, and removing it removes it from all of them. If the tile is missing, open Settings > System > System update > Check now.
In the United States, Roku Support also lets you sign in at channelstore.roku.com, open Details, and select Add app. The developer page calls that web button + Add Channel, and limits the website to US accounts. The Roku mobile app is the third path in the support article: search, select Add app, then Check now if the tile is missing.
AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac
AirPlay is how Roku documents sending video from an Apple device, including a mirror of the Apple screen. It fits when the Roku store does not list a player and the phone already has one. Phone players are in the iPhone and iPad guide. An app installed on Apple TV itself is the Apple TV guide.
Roku's AirPlay article, updated 23 June 2026, says to read the model at Settings > System > About and match it to the tables on that page.
Select and Plus Series TVs support AirPlay and HomeKit on any Roku OS version. Other listed devices need Roku OS 9.4 or higher, or 10.0 or higher. The 10.0 rows on that page include Roku TV models in the 5 and 6 series, Express 3700, Express+ 3710, and Roku 4 model 440. Match the model number on About, not the name on the box.
The Apple side of that article is an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch on iOS 12.3 or later, or a Mac on macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or later. Both devices use the same wireless network. Settings > Network > About on the Roku shows the network name. If the Roku is missing from the AirPlay list, open Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit and set AirPlay to On.
On the Apple device, open the video, tap or click the AirPlay icon (some apps hide it under Share), and select the Roku. Pause and skip from the Apple device or the Roku remote. Home on the Roku remote ends the session. If a Roku TV or Streambar drops off Wi-Fi when powered off, enable Fast TV start or Fast start under Settings > System > Power.
Screen mirroring from Android or Windows
Roku's mirroring article (29 September 2026) and casting article (12 August 2026) describe different features. Casting sends one title from an app that shows a cast icon, and that app must already be on the Roku and the phone. Roku's example is YouTube. After it starts, the phone can do something else or power off. Mirroring copies the whole Android or Windows screen, menus included, and that device stays awake and in control. Apple devices stay on the AirPlay steps above.
Most current players and Roku TVs can mirror. Check Settings > System > About against these exceptions from Roku's article. Express 3960, 3930, and 3900 can mirror; Express 3700 cannot. Express+ 3931 and 3910 can; Express+ 3710 cannot. On Express+ 3910, mirroring is on the HDMI output only, not the composite output.
Roku says Android 10.0 or later is the likely case, except Google-branded devices on OS 6.0 or later, such as Nexus or Pixel phones. The printed taps are for a Samsung phone: pull down the status bar, tap Smart View, select the Roku, then choose Always allow, Allow, Block, or Always block on the TV. Other phones use different names. Roku lists Quick Connect, SmartShare, AllShare Cast, Wireless display, Display mirroring, HTC Connect, Screen casting, and Cast.
Windows 10 uses Action center, then Connect, then the Roku. If Action center is missing, use Start > Settings > System > Display > Connect to a wireless display. Windows 11 is Win + K, then Connect to a wireless display. Home on the Roku remote ends the session. If the Roku never appears, restart the Roku and the router, rejoin the same Wi-Fi, and try again.
For a player that stays on the TV, see the Android TV box and Firestick comparison, the Samsung and LG guide, and the smart TV app comparison.
What to set before you pay
On compare, Main device is Firestick, Smart TV, Phone, or Other. Choose Other when the app runs on the Roku, or Phone when the Roku is only receiving AirPlay or a mirror. Simultaneous screens stays at 1 for a single picture.
One-screen prices in US dollars are $12 for 1 month, $25 for 3 months, $35 for 6 months, and $65 for 12 months. Two screens use a 1.4 multiplier and three use 1.75. Other currencies are on the pricing page. The country-by-country overview is general information about the service, not legal advice.
