How to Watch the NHL in Canada: 2026-27 Club Map
Club-by-club 2026-27 map for Canada's seven NHL teams: which regional network covers which market, what rights holders have confirmed, and what is still a hypothesis.
By WorldIPTV Editorial Team7 min read
How to watch the NHL in Canada in 2026-27 depends on the club. The seven Canadian teams — Toronto Maple Leafs, Montréal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks — do not share one regional home. HYPOTHÈSE: a national window may move a game off its regional feed. The sources used here do not say how the two are scheduled against each other.
This page is only the map. Setup steps already sit in the 2026-27 NHL season guide, the IPTV Canada guide, and the French and English channel guide. An IPTV login does not remove a regional blackout.
National layer over all seven clubs
FAIT. On 2 April 2025, Rogers and the NHL announced a 12-year national media-rights agreement for Canada, from 2026-27 through 2037-38, described as $11 billion CAD. It covers national games, the playoffs and the Stanley Cup Final, and out-of-market rights for regional games. Rogers may sublicense a French-language package and one exclusive national night. Rogers said fans would see fewer regional blackouts; that is Rogers' claim, not a count made here.
FAIT. On 28 July 2026, Rogers and Prime Video announced a 12-year sublicence. Prime Video is the exclusive Canadian home of Wednesday-night regular-season national games, in English and in French: at least 26 national regular-season games, plus two first-round series and one second-round series a year. Sportsnet keeps exclusive English-language rights to more than 500 national games a season, including Monday and Saturday nights, and the playoffs except the series sublicensed to Prime Video.
FAIT. On 3 September 2026, Rogers and Quebecor announced a 12-year French-language national sublicence. TVA Sports and TVA Sports Direct carry those games, with illico+ in the same ecosystem: up to 350 regular-season games, including 32 Canadiens regular-season games and every Canadiens playoff game in French, plus most early-round series, the conference finals, and the Stanley Cup Final.
FAIT. The NHL's 16 July 2026 schedule release put opening night, 29 September, on Sportsnet: Canadiens at Maple Leafs at 7 p.m. ET, then Canucks at Oilers at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT, 8 p.m. MT). That release also puts the Stanley Cup Final on Sportsnet in Canada (English).
FAIT. CBC News reported on 28 September 2026 that CBC is not airing NHL games on Saturday nights this season, after no new sublicensing deal with Rogers Sportsnet. INFÉRENCE: a free over-the-air Saturday NHL window on CBC is not on this season's map. Any claim that Monday is Sportsnet+ only is HYPOTHÈSE until Sportsnet prints it.
Club-by-club regional map
TSN's general FAQ says a Jets, Leafs, Senators, or Canadiens game on TSN is blacked out outside that club's NHL region (FAIT). How to watch hockey without cable in Canada still depends on that region (INFÉRENCE).
| Club | English regional feed | French regional feed | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Maple Leafs | TSN4 (Ontario, excluding the Ottawa Valley) | None listed | FAIT; rest of package HYPOTHÈSE |
| Montréal Canadiens | TSN2 (Québec and Atlantic Canada) | RDS, 45 games | FAIT |
| Ottawa Senators | TSN5 (Eastern Ontario, Québec, Atlantic Canada) | RDS, more than 50 games | FAIT; Sportsnet East HYPOTHÈSE |
| Winnipeg Jets | TSN3 (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, parts of northwestern Ontario), 50 games | None listed | FAIT |
| Calgary Flames | Sportsnet West | None listed | HYPOTHÈSE |
| Edmonton Oilers | Sportsnet West | None listed | HYPOTHÈSE |
| Vancouver Canucks | Sportsnet Pacific | None listed | HYPOTHÈSE |
Toronto Maple Leafs
FAIT. TSN's general FAQ (dated 7 June 2018; still the network's own answer on 30 September 2026) puts regional Leafs games on TSN4. HYPOTHÈSE. Secondary guides put the rest on Sportsnet Ontario; no 2026-27 Leafs release restates that. For a device check, see the Toronto 24-hour checklist.
Montréal Canadiens
FAIT. On 10 October 2025, Bell Media, TSN, RDS, and the Canadiens described a long-term regional extension: 50 games on TSN and 45 on RDS, with English regional games on TSN2, TSN.ca, and the TSN app.
FAIT. On 14 September 2026, RDS set this season's French regional count at 45 regular-season games. The first is Tuesday 6 October at 7 p.m., versus the Carolina Hurricanes at the Bell Centre, also on RDS.ca and the RDS app.
The 32 regular-season games and all playoff games in French on TVA Sports are the 3 September national sublicence, not the RDS package. HYPOTHÈSE: one Canadiens night can be on RDS, TVA Sports, TSN2, Sportsnet, or Prime Video. The sources used here do not publish a night-by-night split.
Ottawa Senators
FAIT. TSN's FAQ puts regional Senators games on TSN5 for Eastern Ontario, Québec, and Atlantic Canada. The October 2025 Bell Media note confirms TSN and RDS carry Senators games, with no English count.
FAIT. RDS, on 14 September 2026, said it is carrying more than 50 Senators regular-season games. The first is Tuesday 6 October at 7 p.m., in Detroit against the Red Wings. A Sportsnet East slice for other Senators nights is HYPOTHÈSE: it is not in the TSN FAQ or the RDS release.
Winnipeg Jets
FAIT. On 25 September 2026, the Jets and TSN put 50 regular-season games on TSN3, TSN.ca, and the TSN app, starting with the home opener against the Boston Bruins on Friday 2 October at 7 p.m. CT. The region includes Kenora, Dryden, and Thunder Bay in northwestern Ontario. The split is 26 away games and 24 from Canada Life Centre.
The same release counts 21 further games on Sportsnet (Sportsnet, Sportsnet West, or Sportsnet One), nine on Sportsnet+, and four on Wednesday Night Hockey, for 84 games in all.
Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks
HYPOTHÈSE. TSN's regional list does not include these three. Secondary guides, including Fagstein on 4 September 2026, place the Flames and Oilers on Sportsnet West and the Canucks on Sportsnet Pacific. No club or Rogers release used here restates that for 2026-27. The confirmed western game in the league schedule is national: Canucks at Oilers, 29 September, 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT, 8 p.m. MT), on Sportsnet.
How to watch hockey without cable in Canada
A cable box is optional only where the rights holder sells that feed and your location may see it. Follow these steps for each game:
- Find your club and your region in the table above.
- Check who holds the game. National nights sit with Sportsnet, with Prime Video on Wednesdays, and with TVA Sports in French. Regional games sit with TSN, RDS, or Sportsnet.
- Open that rights holder's own product: Sportsnet or Sportsnet+, Prime Video, TSN.ca or the TSN app, RDS.ca or the RDS app, or TVA Sports Direct and illico+.
- Confirm you are inside the club's region. Outside it, TSN says regional games are blacked out.
- Only then use a trial to check channel brands and picture quality.
FAIT as named in the releases above. Monthly prices for those products are not copied here. WorldIPTV plans and their prices are on the pricing page and the Canada hub.
What a trial can check
The Canada hub groups English and French sports channels, including Sportsnet, TSN, RDS, and TVA Sports. A 24-hour look from the free-trial page shows whether those brands appear in your guide and whether the picture holds on your Wi-Fi. It does not place you inside a club's NHL region. For a picture check: WhatsApp trial. Favourites and the EPG time zone are in the NHL season guide.
